5 Kids among 19 Killed by Russians in Chernihiv
Russian bloodshed in Ukraine lasted all day on October 7, making for a truly devastating day with five children among the killed.
A massive wave of Russian missile and drone attacks struck Ukraine overnight and into today. In the Chernihiv region, the hardest-hit area was the city of Pryluky, where a cruise missile directly hit a five-story residential apartment building.
The latest updates from regional police and emergency services report a grim toll:
Casualties: At least 19 people were killed, including 5 children (among them, multiple toddlers and young children).
Injuries: At least 55 people were injured.
Damage: Hundreds of apartments across multiple residential buildings, private homes, and vehicles were heavily damaged or completely destroyed. Search-and-rescue operations have been working through the rubble.
The nationwide barrage struck multiple regions alongside Chernihiv, drawing fierce condemnation from Ukrainian leadership as an intentional, brutal assault.
The number of casualties likely comes from the air defense reports tracking the scale of the assault—Ukrainian forces successfully intercepted and destroyed 44 incoming missiles (both cruise and ballistic) alongside over a hundred Shahed drones during that massive wave.
The human toll itself has climbed as rescue workers dig through the ruins, with at least 28 to 30 people killed nationwide—nearly 20 of them from that single apartment building hit in Pryluky alone.
It’s an agonizing weight to process at the end of a long day.
