Russians Strike Kyiv for Fifth Consecutive Time; Other Regions Hit
Also
Russian missile and drone strikes
against Ukraine occur regularly, and during or immediately after air raid
alerts, official sources do not always manage to publish the full picture due
to security restrictions.
Russians attacked Kyiv and the
Kyiv region again today, August 31. This is the fifth consecutive day of
exhausting attacks during which the Russians are massively deploying, in
particular, new high-speed jet UAVs.
Here
is the official data on the consequences of the strikes and air defense
operations as of now: (August 31):
Strike on the region and Kyiv:
Throughout the night and morning of August 31, air raid alerts were declared
several times in the capital and the region due to waves of drones.
Casualties:
According to Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko and the Kyiv Regional Military
Administration (KRMA), six people are known to have been wounded (three of them
are in critical condition in the hospital). Most of the wounded are in the
village of Pohreby (Brovary district, immediately bordering the capital).
Destruction:
In Pohreby, as a result of a direct hit and falling debris, a large-scale fire
broke out in warehouse facilities (including damage to a “Varus” supermarket
chain warehouse). Additionally, a retail outlet, several other warehouses, and
a residential building were damaged in the Brovary and Boryspil districts.
Scale of the attack nationwide: According
to the Ukrainian Air Force, the enemy launched a total of 121 drones
(predominantly strike and jet “Shaheds,” as well as decoy UAVs) and a Kh-59
aviation missile across Ukraine on the night of August 31. Ukrainian Air
defense forces managed to hit 96 air targets.
Due
to fires at warehouses near Kyiv, local authorities are urging residents in
surrounding areas to close their windows due to a temporary deterioration in
air quality.
According
to official data from the mayor's office and the KRMA, there are no fatalities
resulting specifically from today’s attack (August 31).
Current situation regarding
casualties:
·
Wounded: A total of 6 people sustained injuries and shrapnel wounds
(mostly in Pohreby, Brovary district).
·
Critical condition: Three civilians are in serious
condition in capital hospital wards.
However,
during previous days of this week amid massive shelling of Kyiv and the region,
there were unfortunately fatalities among civilians:
·
On August 29, a 2-year-old girl was killed in the Obolon district
of Kyiv.
·
On August 28, a 14-year-old girl was killed in the Kyiv region,
and massive detonation occurred following a strike in the village of Myla (38
fatalities were recorded at that time).
However,
unfortunately, there are dead and wounded in other regions where the enemy used
heavy artillery, aerial bombs, and drones:
·
Donetsk region (most difficult situation):
Over the past day and the morning of August 31, the Russians carried out dozens
of shellings of civilian infrastructure (in particular, using FAB-250 and
FAB-500 aerial bombs). According to the Oblast Military Administration (OMA), 5
civilians were killed and another 10 people were wounded. Fatalities occurred
in Bylbasivka (including a child), Kramatorsk, Starovarvarivka, and Stepanivka.
There are also wounded in Sloviansk.
·
Odesa region: On the night of August 31, the
enemy struck civilian logistics infrastructure, damaging a "Nova
Poshta" facility in particular.
·
Kharkiv region and border areas: Border and
frontline communities traditionally remain under intense shelling by guided
aerial bombs (KABs) and artillery.
Overall
across the country, Air Defense Forces shot down 96 out of 121 enemy UAVs and
the missile launched this night, but the main blow along the frontline and in
frontline oblasts falls on heavy aviation and KABs, which cause the greatest
suffering to the civilian population.
Ukraine needs Patriot defense systems now!
